At the turn of the 20th century, America is progressing into a nation full of prosperity and hope. Ragtime explores the relationships that form between a wealthy white family, a black ragtime musician, and a Jewish family that has immigrated to America looking for a better life. When their paths entwine, they discover the complexities of the American Dream and learn about the consequences and limitations of justice, with a relevance that carries through into the present day.
